Forster Sentinel - Winter 2006

This has been one busy year. I tried to cut down on
travel, but made it to Black Writers Reunion and Conference in
Atlanta, RWA in Dallas and to Book Expo America in Washington, D. C.
among other conferences. And, of course, I didn't miss the Harlem Book
Fair.
In
February, Kensington published my novella, "The Journey" in the
Anthology, DESTINY'S DAUGHTERS. Harlequin published HER SECRET LIFE
and MCNEIL'S MATCH in July and September, respectively, and Kensington
published WHEN YOU DANCE WITH THE DEVIL, my fifth mainstream novel in
August of this year. Genesis Press reissued under
new covers and in a mass market format AGAINST THE WIND (my only
interracial romance) and NAKED SOUL in October and November,
respectively, but unfortunately, someone didn't read the galleys (nor
did anyone send them to me) and both books are replete with errors.
Neither crying nor cussing did any good.
Harlequin reissued my first three novels (Sealed With A Kiss, Against
All Odds and Ecstasy) under one cover, UNFORGETTABLE PASSION. I've
just finished my first book in a continuity series for Harlequin. It
wasn't as easy as I thought it would be. And I'm about to begin a
short story for a multi-author anthology that Donna Hill is editing.
I'm thinking of writing some erotica, provided my writer's voice will
cooperate.
I also
started an online book club recently and already have 66 members. Your
are invited to join.

The
readers of Affaire de Coeur magazine nominated my romance, LOVE ME OR
LEAVE ME, for best ethnic romance of 2005, named me one of the TOP TEN
FAVORITE AUTHORS and, along with the Affaire de Coeur staff, elected
me to the HALL OF FAME along with Linda Howard. It's similar to a
lifetime achievement award, I guess. It's been a banner year.
Genesis Press will release Midnight Magic, in a mass market format. It
was my last full-length novel for that publisher. Harlequin/Kimani
Press will release One Night With You in March 2007. I'm completing
Getting Some of Her Own, my next mainstream novel, which is due out in
August 2007. It's due to my editor, Selena James, on December 22, my
anniversary, so it's a give that, from December 20 to the end of the
year, I'm not writing one word to or about anyone. Both my mind and my
fingers need a rest.
I
haven't done much book signing this year, because my writing schedule
has been so heavy. However2007 begins with some interesting
engagements. During the weekend of February 9-10, The Rudisill
Regional Library in Tulsa, Oklahoma is sponsoring me in a lecture and
book signing, and on a February date to be confirmed, I shall speak
on romance and social issues and sign books as the fundraising focus
for Eviction Intervention Services (EIS) New York, NY. I had the
pleasure of attending the annual EIS awards reception November2, at
the Yale Club in New York City, so I expect the fundraiser will be
good for all concerned.
My
husband and I had our vacation in May of this year, and it seems now
as if we never had one. I am thankful for all this, for my husband's
good health and for mine. I wish all you a wonderful Christmas, a
Happy Kwanzaa and a blessed 2007.
